When you get ready for bed tonight, send out some thoughts for Mickey. We set out with one thought and that was to get Mickey home. And after 3 months of what seemed like a never ending struggle, she’s home. Her story is finally brought to light. Let’s live on with Mickey in our hearts and in our ways upon which we choose to love each other. Never stop with the love. Always for Mickey.
Mickey Shunick is a hero and will always be remembered as a hero.

A tribute to Mickey put together by KATC reporter Jim Hummel.
“Let grief be your sister, she will whether or no. Rise up from the stump of sorrow, and be green also, like the diligent leaves. A lifetime isn’t long enough for the beauty of this world and the responsibilities of your life. Scatter your flowers over the graves, and walk away. Be good-natured and untidy in your exuberance. In the glare of your mind, be modest. And beholden to what is tactile, and thrilling.” – Mary Oliver (thank you ashley)
