DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) – Authorities say a teenager and the stepfather who allegedly abducted her from state custody in southeast Alabama are believed to be in western Louisiana or eastern Texas. Police also say officers are on the lookout to make sure they don’t cross the U.S. border. Officials say 36-year-old Charles Partin abducted his 15-year-old stepdaughter, Ailene Lander, during a doctor’s appointment in Dothan on Monday. She was in state protective custody at the time, but officials haven’t said why. Authorities say they’ve issued warrants for Partin and the girl’s mother, Julie Bethke, who they believe is assisting her husband. A police statement says they may be seeking help from charitable organizations along the way. Police say the couple’s five other children are likely with them, possibly in a Toyota minivan.
